Casa de São Lourenço – Burel Mountain Hotel***** is the new and only 5-star Mountain hotel in Portugal, at 1250 meters of altitude. It has panoramic views of the Mountain, the Zêzere Glacial Valley and the village of Manteigas.

The unit has 17 rooms and 4 suites, all different and truly special. With a decoration that opposes the modern and the old, concrete and wood, wool and burel. The rooms have several separated resting areas, private balconies and access to a garden of autochthonous species so that the mountain feel is always present. The restaurant, São Lourenço Restaurant, is truly exquisite. With a full view of the mountain range across its large windows. The indoor heated pool helps us immerse in the scenery while relaxing in the pure spring waters. It is connected to an outdoor pool, set in a garden overlooking the mountain, ensuring a sense of tranquillity and escape from everyday life. The Mountain Spa induces us into an indolence of comforts, with signature treatments and rituals, where the pure mountain air and the beautiful scenery set the tone. The Wellness area of Casa de São Lourenço has a Sauna and a Turkish Bath with a full view of the mountain.
There are more than 250km of marked trekking and mountain biking trails from the hotel, which can be explored with or without a guide, to discover unexplored places, peaks, valleys, historic and mountain villages, a unique and diverse heritage that is well worth it to explore.

The hotel has renewed from the Pousada de São Lourenço, one of the first Inns in Portugal, designed in 1949 by the architect Rogério de Azevedo. During its requalification it was decided to preserve the history of the building and its setting in the surrounding landscape. The architecture firms P-06 and Site Specific were involved. The “inn” has become a “House”, the second of Burel Mountain Hotels, along with the hotel Casa das Penhas Douradas, in a concept of “Houses that are Hotels”. The hotels are joined by a century-old wool mill, the Burel Factory, which is also owned by the hotels, and part of the vast list of activities of the two units.
