SELÃO DA EIRA – Turismo Rural no Alentejo is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the gentle Monchique mountain range, mostly within the National Ecological Reserve. The atmosphere of tranquility and privacy, and the surrounding nature make a fantastic place to relax. At the same time, it is a good base for day-excursions and hiking. Many of the beautiful beaches of the Alentejo coast, including Zambujeira-do-Mar, Carvalhal and Odeceixe, are nearby, and the Rota Vicentina passes the property between S. Teotónio and Odeceixe.

This nature tourism offers “Nature & Comfort”, individual hospitality and privacy, and by this virtue is member of the international association Small Elegant Hotels. All houses are high-standard accommodations with individual decoration and modern amenities, private terraces and outdoor space. Two houses are accessible by wheelchair, and guests with impairment receive special support.

In the country house complex SALGADINHO , an almost botanical garden embraces the studio O MOINHO in a former windmill, the modern clay houses CASA PEIXE and CASA PAVÃO, and the swimming pool which is perfectly integrated in the natural environment and directly accessible by wheelchair.

In the adjacent SÍTIO DAS ROLAS, ample outdoor space with lawns, garden areas and a pine forest surrounds the studio-type corner house CANTO DO SOL and the spacious family houses CASA ALECRIM and SOBREIRINHO. The individual accommodations may be linked to create larger houses that suit the needs of extended families and groups. The swimming pool with nose-diving depth has a large sun terrace surrounded by lawn.

In both sites the panorama view over the landscape down to the ocean and over the Monchique range is truly outstanding, with sunrise over the hills and the sunset over the sea and a star-twinkling night sky.

The Nature Paradise SELÃO DA EIRA, just a mile away in plain Ecological Reserve. is a world apart where time seems to stand still. CASA CISNE, the only guesthouse in the valley, is for true nature lovers. The forest, the river, swan lakes, dozens of freely roaming peacocks and Guinea fowls, the chicken yard, biological horticulture and dense ornamental vegetation create a unique atmosphere that puts the visitor in touch with nature and intrigues with a particular smell. The sounds of nature are the only “noise”. Rediscovered traditional footpaths allow to stroll along the river and the lotus lake, and to walk through the private forest directly to the Rota Vicentina. The swimming pool is surrounded by cork and orange trees and bypassing peacocks. The cozy glass pavilion, terraces and romantic hideaways scattered around the lakes and the river invite to rest. The small café offers snacks, also vegetarian/vegan, and on advance order serves lunch or dinner in plain nature.

The THAI-AYURVEDA SALA by the swan lake is a space for professional natural health treatment based on Thai Traditional Medicine, including therapeutic massage, relaxing oil massage, “Gua Sa” energy stimulation and herbal applications.
