Casa da Urra

The Casa da Urra is located at the heart of a 180 – hectare estate near the picturesque hamlet of Urra, overlooking the delightful city of Portalegre. It is situated in an attractive location among vineyards, pasture for sheep and montado or dehesa landscape, in the Alto Alentejo region, not far from the Spanish frontier, where the Alentejo plain ends and the breath – taking São Mamede Hills begin. The house, originally in a state of ruin, was completely renovated by a couple of art and culture lovers, doctors by profession.

    The Casa da Urra wine – making undertaking, launched in 2007, was later extended to agritourism and wine tourism, offering a wide range of recreational and leisure activities: a pool with views of the city and the hills, a gym, a tennis court, a children’s playground, a library, a meeting room, a multi – purpose room, a picnic area, visits to vineyards, the orchards and the poultry farm, as well as hunting excursions, winetasting, rambling and cycling are just some of the options  available. Besides this, the complex is located in a tourist region with a range of attractions, well known for its culinary offerings.
